Frosted vs Clear Glass for Windows

Clear or frosted is one of the simplest glass decisions, made per room. Here's how to choose.

Clear glass

Maximises light and gives a full view out. The default for living rooms, bedrooms, and anywhere you want to see out and let light flood in.

Frosted (obscured) glass

Lets light through while blocking the view, for privacy. The natural choice for bathrooms, and useful for ground-floor windows or any room facing a wall or neighbour where you want light without being overlooked.

Mixing per room

Most homes use clear glass throughout and frosted only where privacy matters. It's decided opening by opening based on the room and what it faces.

Questions

Frequently asked

Where should I use frosted glass?

Does frosted glass reduce light?

It lets light through while obscuring the view, so rooms stay bright but private.

Can I mix clear and frosted in one home?
