Not every window is a large living-room sliding panel. Many Coimbatore homes need smaller windows — bathroom ventilators, kitchen splash windows above the sink, stairwell highlights for daylight, small study windows. Glassterr manufactures small uPVC windows in sizes from about 1ft × 1ft up to 3ft × 3ft, in all the standard configurations: sliding, casement, tilt-and-turn, fixed, and louvre ventilator. The pricing per window is reasonable because the fixed costs (hardware, installation visit) dominate over material costs at small sizes — so a small window doesn't proportionally cost much less than a medium one, but it's still very reasonable in absolute terms.
A 'small uPVC window' is anything below about 4 sqft. At these sizes the window types simplify — sliding doesn't make much sense below 3ft wide, so small windows are typically casement, fixed, or louvre. Bathroom ventilators are the most common small window in Coimbatore homes. Kitchen splash windows (high windows above the sink for airflow) are common in older home renovations. Stairwell highlights (small windows on the half-landing) are common in independent house designs. Small windows are still made-to-size — we manufacture each one for the actual opening, with proper sealing and weatherproofing despite the compact dimensions.
Because the fixed costs of any window (hardware, fabrication labour, an installation visit) don't scale down with size. A 2ft × 2ft window still needs hinges, locks, glazing, and a man on site to install. Per square foot it looks pricey; in absolute rupees it's still affordable (typically ₹5,000-12,000).
Technically yes, practically no — sliding mechanisms don't work well below about 3ft wide. The track and rollers need space to function. For openings below 3ft, we recommend casement or louvre instead.
Yes — code requires toughened glass for any window below 800mm sill height (from floor), regardless of size. We use toughened glass as standard on all windows because the safety case is clear and the cost difference is small.
Practically about 1ft × 1ft (300mm × 300mm). Below that the hardware gets impractical and the cost-to-function ratio doesn't make sense. For very small ventilation needs, exhaust fans usually work better than tiny windows.
Yes — all the features available on larger windows are available on small ones, though some combinations get cramped. We'll discuss what makes sense for your specific small opening at measurement.
