uPVC Window Glass Replacement

Need the glass replaced in a uPVC window? Here's how it works.

Replacing glass, not the window

If a pane is broken or fogged but the frame is sound, the glass alone can often be replaced — the beading is removed, the unit swapped, and the beading refitted. It's a smaller job than replacing the whole window.

How to choose

Look for this

  • Often possible without replacing the frame
  • Beading removed and refitted
  • New unit made to the exact size
  • An opportunity to upgrade the glass
  • Frame condition decides feasibility

What we'd suggest

If your frame is sound, glass replacement is the sensible fix — and it's a good moment to upgrade to laminated or double glazing if the room would benefit. We'll tell you honestly whether the frame is worth keeping.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can uPVC window glass be replaced?

Usually yes, if the frame is sound — the beading is removed, a new unit fitted to the exact size, and the beading refitted. It's smaller than replacing the whole window.

Should I replace the glass or the window?

If the frame is sound, glass alone. If the frame is failing, replacing the window makes more sense — we'll tell you honestly which.

Can I upgrade the glass at the same time?

Yes — it's a good moment to move to laminated or double glazing if the room would benefit.
