uPVC Windows for Both Noise and Heat

Got both road noise and afternoon heat to deal with? Here's how to spec for both at once.

Both problems, one window

Noise and heat call for different things — laminated glass for sound, tinted or double glazing for heat. The good news is they combine: laminated glass within a double-glazed unit handles both.

The combined spec

Look for this

  • Laminated glass for noise
  • Double glazing for heat
  • Tinting on the sun-facing side
  • Tight sealing throughout

Target the worst openings

A west-facing, road-facing room is the strongest case for the full combination. Elsewhere you can dial it back — we spec per opening so you're not over-paying on rooms that face neither problem.
