Not every window problem needs a new window. Here's how to tell a repair from a replacement.
A failed sealed unit (misting between panes), worn gaskets, a dropped sash, or stiff hardware are usually repairs. If the frame itself is sound, the window can often be brought back to life for a fraction of replacement.
A frame that's cracked, distorted, badly out of true, or an unbranded profile that's gone brittle — those have reached the end. So has any window where repairs would cost close to a new one.
