Replacement uPVC Windows in Coimbatore

Most uPVC window jobs in Coimbatore are replacements rather than new construction — homes built in the 1980s-2000s with steel-grilled windows that have rusted, or aluminium sliding windows that have started leaking and binding, or wooden windows that have swelled and stopped closing properly. Glassterr specialises in replacement work — we measure the existing opening, manufacture new uPVC windows to fit the exact dimensions, and install while removing the old window in the same visit. The whole-house replacement timeline is typically 4-7 days from start to finish for a 3BHK home. We don't damage walls, plaster, or finishes during the swap.

In plain terms

What this means

Replacement uPVC window work involves measuring the existing window opening, manufacturing a new uPVC window sized to fit precisely, removing the old window, fitting the new one, and sealing around the perimeter. The key technical question is: does the new window fit the existing opening, or does the opening need to be modified? In most cases the new window fits the existing opening — uPVC profiles are made to any size, so we adapt to your wall rather than asking you to adapt to a standard size. Where the existing opening is significantly damaged (rusted-out lintel, broken sill), some prep work is needed before the new window goes in. We assess all this at measurement.

Questions

Common buyer questions

Will my walls be damaged during replacement?

Minor edge damage to the plaster around the window frame is normal — when we pull out the old frame, the sealant and lintel-fixings take a bit of plaster with them. We do a clean job and patch up as we go. Major damage doesn't happen in normal replacement — walls aren't structurally affected.

How long does whole-house replacement take?

Typically 4-7 days for a 3BHK home — depends on number of windows, complexity of removals, and whether any opening prep is needed. We try to do one room at a time so you can keep using the rest of the house. Each room is usually back in service the same day its window is fitted.

Do I need to be at home during the replacement?

Someone responsible should be there at the start (to walk us through), and ideally to inspect each room as it's completed. The full day of work doesn't require constant supervision. We're careful with furniture, floors, and finishes — but moving fragile items away from the work area is sensible.

What about my existing grills — keep them or replace?

Existing grills almost never fit new uPVC frames properly — they're sized for the old window and won't line up. It's almost always cleaner to replace both together. If you want grills on the new windows, we can manufacture them as integrated units.

Can I do replacement room-by-room over months instead of all at once?

Yes — many customers spread the work over time. The window types and finishes will match because we use the same profile. The only minor downside is that each visit has a small mobilisation cost (transport, team time), so doing 2-3 rooms together is slightly more cost-efficient than one room at a time over 6 visits.
